At DKP we believe in making a dropped kerb planning application process simple, efficient, and transparent. We understand that many people might be unfamiliar with the planning and design process, and we take pride in guiding our clients through every step. Our Chartered Landscape Architects and Town Planners have the right experience and a deep understanding of planning regulations, ensuring your planning application is handled professionally and successfully.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
The process begins with a consultation. When you reach out to us, we’ll arrange a convenient time to discuss your specific needs and circumstances. This initial consultation can be done over the phone or via email, depending on your preference. During this stage, we’ll gather key information about your property, needs and talk you through the process.

Step 2: Planning Appraisal
If it seems like your project needs planning, we proceed with a full planning appraisal by a Chartered Town Planner. This involves reviewing local planning regulations, the specific requirements of your local council and any constraints related to your property. At this stage, our team will also check the submission requirements – i.e. what drawings, reports, forms etc need to be submitted with the planning application.
Step 3: Design Brief
After the appraisal, we help you prepare a comprehensive design brief tailored to your specific requirements. This is where our Highways expertise comes into play. Once your brief is received, we will consider every detail, from the aesthetics of the kerb to the technical aspects such as drainage, slope, and compliance with the local authority’s space and safety standards.

Step 4: Application Submission
Once the design is finalised and approved by you, we will prepare and submit the planning application. We handle all the paperwork, including architectural drawings, supporting statements and any other required documentation. Our experienced team will liaise with the local council on your behalf, ensuring that all planning regulations are adhered to.
We pride ourselves on our thoroughness, ensuring that every application we submit has the highest chance of success. We have a good track record of securing approvals, even in challenging circumstances.
Disclaimer: Dropped Kerb Planning provides planning application services only. The Council’s planning application fee—typically around £638—is not included in our fee and must be paid directly by you to your Local Planning Authority. We do not handle post-permission requirements such as crossover licences, utility consents, or the removal of Council infrastructure. All additional approvals, fees, and regulatory steps following the grant of planning permission remain the sole responsibility of the client.
